Bobcats, Mustangs finally move into Vype’s Top 10 Houston football teams

CYPRESS — Despite its arguably poor preseason rankings — namely putting the reigning state champs behind a school entering varsity play for the first time this year — Vype magazine is correcting its course with this year’s football predictions.

North Shore maintained its No. 1 slot after showing everyone that Katy can bleed with a 35-21 win over the Tigers. The Tigers were only knocked down to the No. 4 slot.

Cy-Fair’s sound 27-7 victory over the Woodlands was enough for the Bobcats to leap up from No. 11 to No. 7.

The Mustangs of Cy-Ranch also got a solid bump in the rankings. Their 32-21 win over Cinco Ranch moved them into the Top 10 as the No. 9 team. The Mustangs were previously picked as the No. 15 squad.

However, not all was sunshine, lollypops and rainbows as Langham Creek’s 35-27 loss to Klein Oak dropped the Lobos from No. 5 to No. 14.

Cy-Falls’ Eagles soared a few steps, as their 42-20 win over Aldine propelled them from No. 19 to No. 16.

Cy-Ridge also received recognition as an honorable mention this week.
