CCEMS Co-Founder Honored

By Norm Uhl, CCEMS

At the AAUW (American Association of University Women) Outstanding Women Awards Luncheon on March 2, 2019, CCEMS Co-Founder Kati Woodward was one of two women honored for service to our community. Debbie Johnson, who is the co-founder and president of the 1960 Hope Center which serves the homeless, was recognized for “COMMUNITY SERVICE.”

Kati Woodward, who is a retired teacher, was honored with the “EDUCATION” Award, for her role in improving educational opportunities for women. Both women were also honored with Proclamations from Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle.

Kati’s influence has spread well beyond the classroom. According to the UUAW, North Harris County Branch, “When students in her first classes missed school to babysit younger siblings, Kati began an effort that resulted in the establishment of a day care center for that community. She sponsored a Model United Nations Club to expose high school students to international affairs. She also created high school summits reaching more than 7,700 girls.”

Cypress Creek EMS knows Kati Woodward as a co-founder, along with her husband Cliff, of Cypress Creek EMS. She actually is the person who gave CCEMS its name. You can read more about the history of CCEMS and the role of Cliff and Kati Woodward here.

Congratulations to Kati Woodward for a lifetime of service that continues today. Kati is a longstanding member of the AAUW (American Association of University Women).
