CYPRESS — The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD transportation and community engagement departments will again collaborate with the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce for the 12th annual Bus Buddies program, which is scheduled for the first two days of the 2018-2019 school year.

Volunteers in the community can begin signing up today (Aug. 15, 2018) as Bus Buddies to ride CFISD school buses Aug. 27-28 from approximately 2:45-5 p.m. The goal of the Bus Buddies program is to put new school bus riders at ease and ensure students are delivered to their proper bus stops.

Registration and information are available on the Bus Buddies webpage at www.cfisd.net/busbuddies. No training is needed to participate in the Bus Buddies program.

Volunteers and community partners continue to help set participation numbers with Bus Buddies, as the 11th annual edition saw nearly 470 volunteers and more than 120 business and organizations assist the new bus riders at the district’s elementary schools.

“The Bus Buddy program is just another brilliant example of the generous #CFISDspirit of volunteers and business partners,” said Bevin Gordon, director of marketing and business relations. “Volunteers assist CFISD’s youngest bus riders to learn their new school transportation routine and arrive home from school safely.”
