CYPRESS TEXAS — Representatives from the CenterPoint Energy SCORE (Schools Conserving of Resources Energy) Program presented CFISD with an incentive check for $200,639.98 during the regularly scheduled Board meeting on Jan. 17 for completing multiple energy efficiency projects in 2017-2018.
The SCORE Program rewards school districts for improving energy efficiency at no cost to its participants. CenterPoint SCORE Program manager Andrew Scatizzi and Joshua Campbell, CLEAResult program manager, presented the incentive check to Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of schools; Jay Bonham, CFISD energy manager; and Don Ryan, Board member, during the monthly meeting.
CLEAResult is the contractor that implements the energy efficiency program for CenterPoint Energy.
Incentives from the SCORE Program are determined by the total amount of energy saved. In the 12 years since CFISD began participating in the SCORE Program, it has earned $1,619,275.93 in incentives from CenterPoint as a result of the energy efficiency projects implemented.
“The funds received in annual rebates and incentives through the CenterPoint SCORE Program are continually reinvested in future energy conservation initiatives including higher efficiency chiller replacements and new LED lighting,” said Roy Sprague, CFISD chief operations officer. “Congratulations goes to our facilities, maintenance and energy management departments for their efforts in implementing these projects to meet and exceed the requirements of the program to maximize the rebate and incentives the district received.”
Among its past rebate checks, CFISD has installed programmable and web-based thermostats in all of the district’s portable buildings. The project has led to more controlled environments and reduced electricity consumption in the buildings.
In addition, the energy management department recently upgraded LED fixtures in gymnasiums and the district’s distribution warehouse. Other control projects purchased with past rebate money include demand response, outside air control, cooling tower resent and M2G gas boiler controllers.
