CFISD names incoming principal for Horne Elementary School

CYPRESS — Tracey Bennett, assistant principal at Andre’ Elementary School, was named the new principal at Horne Elementary School on May 28. Bennett replaces Stephanie Thomas, who was named the principal at Adam Elementary School earlier this month.

Bennett is completing her 22nd year in education. She began as an English teacher for seven years at Detroit Public Schools in Detroit, Mich.

Bennett joined CFISD in 2005, serving Truitt Middle School as a reading teacher and director of instruction helping teacher for two years each. She was named Teacher of the Year during the 2006-2007 school year.

In 2009, Bennett moved into administration, as she was named director of instruction at Campbell Middle School.

Following seven years, Bennett was named to her current role at Andre’ in 2015.

Bennett earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Oklahoma. She also earned a Master of Educational Administration from Sam Houston State University and is currently in the K-12 Professional Leadership doctoral cohort at the University of Houston.

“I feel blessed to serve as the new principal of Horne Elementary,” Bennett said. “It will be a privilege to work with such a dedicated staff to assist students in reaching their maximum potential. I am looking forward to returning to the community where I started my CFISD career. I am also thrilled about the opportunity to build relationships and connect with the staff, students, and families of Horne Elementary. I am excited to become a Horne Hound Dog.”
