CYPRESS — With summer workouts starting across the state of Texas, including Cy-Fair ISD on Monday, the importance of staying away from the pandemic-causing Coronavirus is a top concern for school leaders across the state.
“CFISD Athletes will need to complete prescreening processs prior to coming to SAC on Monday,” tweeted Ray Zepeda, Cy-Fair’s athletics director on June 6. “Stay home and contact your coaches or trainers if you can answer yes to any of the below questions.”
Have you experienced any of the following symptoms?
- New or worsening cough
- New difficulty breathing
- New difficulty staying awake
- New muscle aches throughout the body (not related to exercise)
- New headache
- New sore throat
- New loss of smell, taste, or appetite
- New diarrhea
- Temperature of 100.0 or higher
- Had close contact (within 6 feet, for more than 15 minutes) with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last weeks
On May 22, 2020, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) announced that summer training will be reopened for student athletes. This included strength and conditioning, skills instruction and marching band practices, according to the UIL website.
We will welcome back CFISD athletes back to campus for SAC training tomorrow. Monday will be an orientation and teaching day. Students, bring plenty of water and maintain social distancing. We want to be safe and continue to work towards the fall. @CyFairISD pic.twitter.com/inG8f5DIBR
