CFVFD responds to thunderstorm damage

HARRIS COUNTY — Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to a structure fire in the 10200 block of Crooks Way Court in the Steeple Chase Subdivision in Houston, TX just after 4 a.m. on April 18, 2019.

According to official reports, the homeowners were awoken by a loud crash and their smoke alarms during thunderstorms early Thursday morning.

Cy-Fair VFD fire crews reported a falling tree knocked power lines down and onto the back of the home.

Crews had access issues due to the downed wires, but were otherwise quickly able to extinguish the fire.

No injuries were reported, one of the residents was evaluated by EMS crews as a precaution and refused treatment.

The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office was on the scene investigating the cause of the fire. CenterPoint Energy worked to address the downed power line and power outage in the area.
