Collision leaves nine injured, one dead on Highway 290 service road


HARRIS COUNTY — According the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, “on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at approximately 2129 hours, Andrew Mock was driving a yellow in color, 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, at a high rate of speed, traveling westbound on the service road, at 14900 Northwest Fwy. Mock struck the left rear of a black in color, 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, with the right front of his Camaro. The collision caused the Malibu to travel off of the roadway, onto a sidewalk, which was occupied by pedestrians. The Malibu struck several pedestrians on the sidewalk. A known adult male pedestrian suffered fatal injuries from the collision. Two unidentified juvenile male pedestrians suffered serious bodily injuries from the collision, and were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital Downtown by Life Flight. Mock was charged with one count of Manslaughter, and two counts of Aggravated Assault-Reckless Driving with Serious Bodily Injury, which is subject to upgraded should the two unidentified juveniles succumb to their injuries. This crash remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.”
