Constables respond to Trudeau Drive shooting, one man found dead

Pct 4

CYPRESS — According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, “on March 20th, 2021, at approximately 3:00 a.m., deputies with the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office responded to a shooting call in the 11400 block of Trudeau Drive.”

“Upon their arrival on scene, a male, Corey Thompson, was found deceased in one of the bedrooms of the residence. The deceased male had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. It was determined this male was not a resident of the home. A second victim, a male named Coy Rogers, who lived at the residence, was transported from the scene with a gunshot wound to the head in grave condition. This second victim’s step-brother, James Sotelo, also a resident, was identified as the shooter.”

“Investigation revealed that Sotelo and Thompson were in his bedroom and became involved in some type of disturbance which escalated into Sotelo shooting Thompson multiple times. Several of these fired rounds penetrated the wall of his step-brother’s bedroom, striking Rogers in the head as he was lying in bed sleeping.”

“Sotelo was not cooperative with investigators and did not provide an explanation for the shooting. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of murder against Sotelo, who is currently out on bond for a previous assault charge, and he was booked into the Harris County Jail. Additional charges are possible and dependent on whether Rogers survives his injuries.”
