CYPRESS — Cy-Fair Fire Department crew members and Harris County Sheriff’s deputies worked together while trying to save the life of a man who would later die as a result of a shooting on Highway 6 near the Copperfield area, Aug. 27, 2019.

According to the sheriff’s office, patrol units were dispatched to the 8300 block of Highway 6 North in regards to a possible shooting call. Upon arrival, units found an adult male shot and in the roadway near his truck, on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at approximately midnight.

Editor’s note: What happened to the Cy-Fair VOLUNTEER Fire Department? The department was absorbed by Emergency Service District 9 earlier this year. The same firefighters, medics and crews are serving the Cypress area. However, the word “volunteer” is being slowly removed as the fire fighting force moves to more and more paid full-time positions. You’ll still see the “volunteer” terminology on the fire trucks and ambulances for some time.

Cy-Fair Fire Department crews arrived to find Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies had started CPR on the patient who had been shot. The patient was transported to a local hospital by Cy-Fair EMS in critical condition.

According to the HCSO, the patient was pronounced dead at the hospital later.

HCSO identified the patient as Aaron Thomas Miller, 32.

Deputies believe the victim was involved in an altercation with another motorist.  The victim approached the other motorist and was shot.

According to the HCSO, possible vehicles of interest witnessed leaving the scene could be a white or light colored Dodge Charger and or a black colored sedan.
