The Cy-Fair High School volleyball team celebrates its District 17-6A championship and No. 1 seed going into the postseason. The Bobcats will face Houston Carnegie at 6 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the Berry Center.
CYPRESS — The District 14-6A and District 17-6A volleyball seasons wrapped up Oct. 23 with four CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL playoffs.
A year after finishing third in the district standings, Cy-Fair High School won the outright District 17-6A championship in 2018 with a 15-1 record in league play. The Bobcats finished one game ahead of Memorial from Spring Branch ISD.
Also advancing to the postseason is Cypress Creek High School, which claimed the fourth seed after posting a 10-6 mark in district play.

In 14-6A, Cypress Ranch High School and Tomball Memorial finished the regular season with identical 13-3 records, giving each a share of the district championship. The two played a seeding game Oct. 26 at the Berry Center, with Cypress Ranch coming out on top in four games to enter the postseason as 14-6A’s No. 1 seed.
Also advancing is Langham Creek High School, which tied for third place in league play with Bryan after both posted 11-5 records. The teams agreed to flip for district seeding and Langham Creek wound up as 14-6A’s No. 4 seed.
Cypress Creek High School posted a 10-6 record in District 17-6A play, earning the Cougars the No. 4 seed and a playoff berth. They face Houston Westside at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Houston ISD’s Delmar Fieldhouse.
Cypress Ranch and Langham Creek will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:
- Cypress Ranch will face Round Rock Westwood at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Rudder High School (3251 Austins Colony Pkwy) in Bryan.
- Langham Creek will play Austin Vandegrift at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Klein Cain (10201 Spring Cypress Road).
Tickets for both playoff games will be sold at the gate for $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Langham Creek High School setter Macy Martin (No. 6) has helped lead the Lobos to a playoff berth, as they finished 11-5 in District 14-6A. They’ll face Austin Vandegrift at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Klein Cain.
Cy-Fair and Cypress Creek will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district games:
- Cy-Fair will face Houston Carnegie at 6 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress); and
- Cypress Creek will play Houston Westside at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Houston ISD’s Delmar Fieldhouse (2020 Mangum Road).
Tickets for both playoff games will be sold at the gate for $5 each (adults and students).
