Cy-Fair VFD, Cy Creek FD battle lightning


CYPRESS TEXAS — Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to a residential structure fire in the 14800 block of Jarvis Road in Cypress during heavy thunderstorms Sunday, April 7, 2019.

According to reports, the residents called 9-1-1 and reported a loud boom from a lightning strike and found fire coming from an outlet inside of the house and smoke in the garage. Cy-Fair Rescue 3 arrived first on-scene to find smoke coming from a detached garage. Cypress Creek Fire Department / Harris County ESD 13 assisted with mutual-aid for the incident and helped CFVFD crews quickly extinguish the blaze.

The Harris County Fire Marshal investigated the cause of the fire and determined it was started by a lightning strike / electrical.
