Cy-Lakes football coach accused of fatal DWI crash (July 14, 2018)


CYPRESS — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported that a pedestrian was killed while crossing the roadway near the 15000 block of West Road, late at night July 14, 2018.
Tirone Curtis, a health teacher and football coach at Cypress Lakes (Cy-Lakes) High School, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and with failure to stop and render aid.
The victim was Robert Warde, 73. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The official report states that Curtis fled the scene, but a short time later he returned to the scene of the crash and admitted responsibility to striking the pedestrian.
Cy-Fair ISD released a statement: “Mr. Tirone Curtis is currently a health teacher and football coach at Cypress Lakes High School and has been employed by Cypress-Fairbanks ISD since March 2015.  The district has just learned of these allegations and will continue to investigate.”
