CYPRESS TEXAS — The reigning District 14-6A champion has a new head football coach and athletics coordinator, who will host his first Mustang parent meeting soon.
Coach Sean “Mac” McAuliffe is scheduled to meet with Cy Ranch’s football community Monday, May 6, 2019, at the Cy Ranch High School auditorium at 6:30 p.m.
McAuliffe comes to the Mustangs after five years at one of the state’s most prolific football programs, Converse Judson. His 20 years of coaching include four years at Jersey Village High School, as an assistant football coach and special teams coordinator from 2004-2008.

According to a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD press release, as a head football coach, McAuliffe has a 54-13 career record at Converse Judson, five Class 6A Division I postseason appearances, two state semifinal berths, one state quarterfinal appearance and one outright district championship. He was named the 2014 San Antonio Express-News Coach of the Year.
Ironically, one of those 13 losses came at the hands to the #MWT Mustangs in 2014, according to CFISD-sports focused website Varsity Wires.
New Cy Ranch head football coach Sean McAuliffe has some minor previous history with the Mustangs. McAuliffe was the head coach at Judson in 2014, who Cy Ranch beat 38-31 to advance to the state finals.
That loss was just one of 13 Judson suffered in his six years with the team.

McAuliffe takes the reins after Gene Johnson, who took over the boys’ athletic coordinator and head football coaching positions in Waller ISD in March.
It’s normal when a new head football coach takes over that the coaching roster changes with him. Riding on Johnson’s coattails to Waller are now-former Cy Ranch coaches Deveon McKinney and Marcus Mendoza.
We are excited to welcome Coach Deveon McKinney who comes to us from Cypress Ranch HS where he helped the Mustangs accumulate an overall record of 40 wins against 7 losses and 3 undefeated district championships. Welcome to the family Coach McKinney! GO DOGS!!! #letemout pic.twitter.com/BolLXMs7e4

Hey Dogs! Help us welcome Marcus Mendoza to the Waller Football family! Coach Mendoza makes the move from Cypress Ranch HS to become our new Passing Game Coordinator. He brings a wealth of experience as both a coach and standout player for the University of Nebraska. #letemout pic.twitter.com/17bo7sFPUZ
