Cy Ridge boys, Cy Falls girls sweep area track and field meet titles


CYPRESS TEXAS — Led by two team championships, CFISD track and field athletes qualified for regional competition after placing among the top four in their respective events at the District 17-6A and 18-6A area meet, held April 17 at Spring Branch ISD’s Stratford High School.

CFISD teams placed first and second on the boys’ side, as Cypress Ridge High School captured the team championship at the area meet and led three other CFISD schools in placing among the top 10 boys’ teams in the final point standings. The Rams totaled 116 points to finish ahead of runner-up Cypress Falls High School (78 points). Cy-Fair High School (68) and Cypress Creek High School (54) finished fourth and sixth, respectively.

The Cypress Falls High School girls’ track and field team led five CFISD teams to finish among the top 10 in the final girls’ standings in the District 17-6A and 18-6A area meet. The Golden Eagles scored 122 points to win the team title.

On the girls’ side, Cypress Falls won the team title. Five CFISD schools finished among the top 10 girls’ teams in the final standings. The Golden Eagles totaled 122 points to finish ahead of runner-up Stratford High School of Spring Branch ISD. Cypress Ridge (61 points) finished fourth, while Cy-Fair (48), Jersey Village High School (36) and Cypress Creek (27), finished seventh, eighth and ninth.

The top four finishers in each event qualified for the Region III-6A Championships, to be held April 26-27 at Clear Creek ISD’s Challenger Columbia Stadium (1955 W. Nasa Blvd.) in Webster. Daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
