CYPRESS — The District 16-6A and District 17-6A volleyball seasons ended on Nov. 16 with six CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL playoffs.
Cypress Bridgeland ® High School is advancing as the District 16-6A champions. This is the second consecutive district title for the Bears after winning the District 14-6A title in 2019.
“This year was an important year for Bridgeland ® volleyball to show that we can maintain a high level of play,” said Verena Khalil, the Lady Bears’ head volleyball coach. “I am so proud of these ladies for their hard work and sacrifices to earn another district championship. They impress me every day that they can have fun and be competitive players.”

Also advancing in District 16-6A are Cypress Ranch, Cypress Woods and Langham Creek high schools. Cypress Ranch finished with a 12-2 record, claiming the second seed, while Cypress Woods and Langham Creek finished with district records of 10-4 and 9-5, earning the third and fourth seeds, respectively.
In District 17-6A, Cy-Fair, Cypress Creek, Memorial and Stratford high schools are advancing to the postseason. Cy-Fair finished with a 12-2 record, claiming the second seed, while Cypress Creek finished with a 9-5 district record, earning the third seed.
Cy-Fair High School finished second in District 17-6A with a 12-2 record. The Bobcats will play Houston Carnegie Vanguard at 6 p.m. on Nov. 20 at Houston ISD’s The Pavilion.

Cypress Creek senior Madi Wheeless helped lead the Cougars to a 9-5 record in District 17-6A, earning the third playoff seed. The Cougars will face Houston Lamar at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at Cypress Ridge High School.
Tickets for Cypress Bridgeland ® High School and Cypress Ranch are $5 each for adults and students and are sold online. Tickets for Cypress Woods and Langham Creek are $3 each for adults and $2 each for students and are also sold online.
