HOUSTON — Cypress Ranch High School tight end Drake Dabney, Cypress Ridge High School defensive end Vernon Broughton and Cypress Creek High School linebacker Josh White were among the standout football players named to and honored as a part of the Touchdown Club of Houston 2019 UIL High School Preseason Football Team on Aug. 14 at the organization’s Touchdown of the Year event at the Bayou City Event Center.
The three seniors were among the 32 football players selected to the preseason team, which the Touchdown Club constructs through film study, recommendations, recruiting rankings and preseason publications.

Each player honored by the Touchdown Club was presented with a plaque commemorating the distinction and congratulated by former Houston Oilers quarterback Dan Pastorini, who led the franchise to consecutive AFC Championship appearances in 1978 and 1979. Pastorini was named the 2019 Touchdowner of the Year.
Since 2013, 22 CFISD players have been named to the preseason team, which included the district having multiple selections from 2014-2017. CFISD had seven honorees in 2016.
