CYPRESS TEXAS — Deputies with Precinct 5 Constable Ted Heap’s Office have arrested a Cypress woman charged with trying to force a teenage runaway into prostitution.
According to police reports, the victim, a 15-year-old girl who suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, told Precinct 5 investigators that Shameka Young took her to Southwest Houston on January 16 and tried to force her, against her wishes, to “walk the track,” working as a prostitute. The victim refused and, after another attempt to coerce her into prostitution, the teen was left at a shopping center in the 9800 block of Bissonnet, where she was found by Precinct 5 deputies unharmed on the evening of January 17. The teen was released to her mother on the scene.
After interviewing the victim, her mother and other witnesses, Precinct 5 investigators were able to piece together details that identified the suspect and ultimately led to her arrest on January 30.
Young, 25, is charged with promotion of prostitution, a second degree felony. She is being held in the Harris County Jail on $50,000 bail.
