For nearly two decades, Lone Star College-CyFair’s Center for the Arts has given hundreds of students a place to learn and practice the skills of their respective interests in the arts, while providing the Cy-Fair community a place to bring the family to enjoy many evenings of entertainment.

The visual, theatrical, musical, instrumental and choral events showcase the hard work, skills and creativity of the college’s students, faculty and staff as well as visiting artists.

“Supporting our Center for the Arts programs and events, in addition to providing student scholarships, are members of our Society for the Arts,” said Joshua Estrada, Fine Arts Coordinator. “Our students deserve an audience and our audience deserves to see the talent at LSC-CyFair; therefore, our ultimate goal is to be an artistic hub for the community.”

Join LSC-CyFair’s season opening celebration Aug. 25 for a free preview of this year’s upcoming musical and theatrical productions.

The college’s Center for the Arts in partnership with the LSC-CyFair Society for the Arts will present this event featuring performances by award-winning faculty artists in recital at 7 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre. Students will also have the opportunity to get information on all the fine arts programs have to offer as well as meet their professors.

Audiences will also learn more about student successes that began at LSC-Cy-Fair. Among those continuing their journey toward careers in the visual and performing arts field that began at LSC-Cy-Fair are alumni Baylee Kilgore – an opera singer, Vicky Suarez – an award-winning ceramics artist and Gracie Lopez – clarinetist and future band director.

In addition to the season opening celebration, save the dates Sept. 30, Oct. 28 and Nov. 18, to join in an afternoon of all things visual and performing arts featuring the talented students of drama, music, art and creative writing in the monthly Fine Arts Showcase 1 p.m. events.
