CYPRESS — Cypress Ranch High School graduate Colton Cowser and Langham Creek graduate Korey Holland led CFISD’s eight-member contingent named to the 2018 Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association All-State teams.

Cowser and Holland were both named to the first team as outfielders. Cowser, a Sam Houston State University signee, helped lead Cypress Ranch to the UIL state tournament in June (the program’s third berth in seven years). Holland signed with the Cleveland Indians after he was selected in the 14th round of the MLB Draft in June and is with the organization’s Arizona Rookie League team.

Two starting pitchers were named to the second team – Cy-Fair’s Blake Wilson, who was named the Houston Chronicle’s Pitcher of the Year, and fellow graduate Ty Madden of Cypress Ranch.

Named to the third team were two more Cypress Ranch pitchers. J.J. Goss was named as a starter, while fellow rising senior Matthew Thompson was named as a relief pitcher.

Earning honorable mention were Cypress Ranch catcher Jared Alvarez-Lopez and fellow rising senior Reed Chumley, a shortstop from Langham Creek.
