Experience a Sensory Richness in “Savage Bayou” Art Exhibition this October
CYPRESS, Texas (Sept. 26, 2022) The Lone Star College-CyFair Bosque Gallery welcomes Gulf Coast native and mixed media artist Roslyn M. Dupré to showcase her “Savage Bayou” exhibition Oct. 6 through Nov. 10.
This longtime Houston resident is a multidisciplinary artist whose natural materials and methods vary with each project. Using traditional craftsmanship and wool, steel and wood to fashion sewn papers and (un)useful tools, Dupré often incorporates hand-weaving and embroidery with fine art fabrication and foundry work.
In this fall exhibition, viewers will see textures that call out to one’s sense of touch such as woven denim, coiled Spanish moss, shiny graphite, cotton canvas and even the pages of a book.
Gallery Director Matthew Backer said “Home, death, family, identity and abstraction are some of the powerful ideas that Roslyn explores in her artworks with a corresponding sensory richness.”
Come meet Dupré and learn more about her inspirations, creative process and unique art projects at the 6:30 p.m. opening reception.
Save the date Nov. 17 for the opening reception and awards ceremony of the Student Art Showcase. On display through Dec. 8, this end-of-semester showcase features student talent in the multi-media representation of drawings, two-dimensional and three-dimensional design works, ceramics, photography, painting and more.
