Four Cypress teams on Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association 2020 preseason squads
CYPRESS — The Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association released its preseason teams Monday, June 15, 2020, and seven players across four Cypress Fairbanks ISD schools made the 6A team.
GHVCA 6A Pre-season Player of the Year
Topping the list was Rebekah Portalatin from the Cy-Fair Bobcats, as the Class 6A pre-season player of the year.
GHVCA 6A Pre-season Team (Cypress players)
- Bridgeland® (CFISD’s 12th high school): Emily Adams
- Cy-Fair: Annie Heliste and Kara Spice. Rebekah Portalatin, GHVCA preseason player of the year.
- Cy Ranch: Kailey Friedrich and Maddy Villarreal
- Cy Woods: Callie Cogdill.
GHVCA 6A Pre-season Team (local area players)
- Katy: Jordan Gamble, Hannah Hoover, Maddie Waak
- Katy Cinco Ranch: Eva Fitzgerald, Kayla Griebl
- Katy Seven Lakes: Ally Batenhorst, Casey Batenhorst, Mayo Olibale
- Katy Tompkins: Paris Herrman, Eliana Posada, Cindy Tchouangwa
- Klein: Annie Antar, Gaby Mansfield, Kierstyn McFall, Devan Taylor
- Klein Cain: Jenna Karp
- Klein Collins: Mekaila Aupiu
- Spring Branch Memorial: Logan LeRoux, Taylor Odum, Lya Traylor
- Spring Branch Stratford: Alexis Andrews, Marjani Stanfill
- Tomball Memorial: McKenzie Moore.
GHVCA Private school team (local area players)
Concordia Lutheran High School (Tomball): Booke Frazier, Sophie Keene, Sydney Whitfield.
Jersey Village coach joins GHVCA Board of Directors
The Jersey Village Lady Falcons’ head volleyball coach, Carrie Schneider, joined the GHVCA’s board of directors.
Joining Schneider was 5A Friendswood’s Sarah Paulk, and private school Houston Second Baptist’s Sue Berg.
GHVCA is proud add three prestigious coaches to our Board of Directors. Please welcome Sarah Paulk, Friendswood HS (5A); Carrie Schneider, Jersey Village HS (6A); and Sue Berg, Second Baptist School (Private Schools).
