Fourth Suspect Arrested In Juvenile Crime Ring

KATY — Constable Ted Heap is pleased to announce that a fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with a violent crime spree carried about by a group of young juveniles in Southwest Houston since May.

The latest arrest is a 14-year-old boy wanted in an attack at Firenza and Rampart earlier this month. Their victim is a kind and gentle 76-year-old man who dresses up as Santa Claus during the holidays. Three other suspects have been arrested in the last 48 hours: an 11-year-old, a 12-year-old and another 14-year-old.

These juveniles have been linked to nine violent robbery and carjacking cases over the last several months. In all, Precinct 5 investigators are looking into more than 26 cases that may be related to this group of suspects, who lived and attended school in the same area.

The investigation is ongoing and other suspects may be arrested in the near future.

Although the precinct’s headquarters is stationed on Interstate 10, the precinct provides law enforcement coverage for much of Cypress and reaches south of the Katy area.
