CYPRESS — Hear from a trained ballerina, take home tips on air frying and get history lessons in colonial genealogy and White House holidays at Lone Star College-CyFair’s Wednesday workshops this November/December.
The free Learning, Inspiration, Friendship and Enrichment (L.I.F.E.) programs are held Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the library (LRNC room 131 unless otherwise noted) at 9191 Barker Cypress.
- November 6 – A Ballerina’s View
Learn about ballet, the formal technique. Leah Stark, a trained ballerina, gives us her insights into its beauty and benefits. It’s not just for the preschool set.
- November 13 – Plymouth Rock and Colonial Genealogy
Mick Stafford, genealogy enthusiast and executive library director of Houston Community College, delves into genealogy of colonial times before the existence of the U.S. Census.
- November 20 – Air Frying with Missy
What’s all the fuss about guilt-free frying magic? Missy Dixon, children’s librarian, investigates and gives us the scoop on air frying.
- December 4 – First Family Christmas Traditions
Pam Panettiere, librarian and historian, recalls past celebrations at the White House by our presidents and first ladies. Holiday treats will be served.
- December 11 – Caroling with Jen
Come sing along to your favorite carols and Christmas tunes. Trivia and wassail too!
- December 18, 25, and January 1 — No Workshops
L.I.F.E. programs will resume Jan. 15, 2020 with “Solar Power.”
