HARRIS COUNTY — Child Abuse investigators have charged a 27-year-old male with injury to a child with serious bodily injury after his 2-week-old son was admitted to a local hospital in grave condition.
Investigators have charged Luis Angel Pacheco (08/29/1991).
On Monday February 25, 2019 EMS personnel transferred the infant from a residence in the 16600 block of Gaeldom drive in west Harris County.
The child was admitted to Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus (Katy).
Doctors alerted the Sheriff’s Office, after the injuries on the child were inconsistent with the father’s statement to them.
The child had numerous blunt force injuries to his skull and other blunt force injuries on his stomach and groin area.
HCSO Investigator J. Garcia and lead investigator Harris County Precinct 5 Deputy Investigator M. Puente responded to the hospital.
Investigators say that Pacheco told them he was attempting to change his son’s diaper when child began to cry.
He was trying to calm him down by holding him and change the diaper on the infant.
While he was walking from one to another, he dropped the child on the concrete floor.
Pacheco noticed the injury on the child’s head but did not make his wife aware of the injury.
The child’s mother was in another part of the home during the incident.
After a few hours the child’s breathing became labored and 911 was called.
Pacheco could not explain the other injuries to the child or how they occurred.
He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond with a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, February 27, in the 232nd court.
