HCSO pursuit turns deadly near Towne Lake area


CYPRESS — According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, on October 29, 2020, at approximately 11:37 p.m., deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a maroon Chevrolet HHR for a traffic violation.

The vehicle fled from the deputies.

While evading in the motor vehicle, the suspect, Kaylup Deruise, ran a red light at a high rate of speed at the intersection of Barker Cypress Road and Tuckerton Road.

HCSO investigators state Kaylup struck another motor vehicle that was lawfully entering the intersection. Kaylup lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree.

Kaylup was found with no signs of life at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

This crash remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
