AUSTIN – Rooster Teeth, the entertainment and media company behind the wildly popular comedic Halo-inspired series, Red vs Blue, are collaborating with the Houston Outlaws of Blizzard’s Overwatch League at RTX Austin to produce Rooster Teeth’s most ambitious crossover since the RWBY cast showed up in a fighting game.
The Houston Outlaws are riding into town, drawn by the immense gathering of gamers and fans settling into Austin for the weekend. They’ve laid down a challenge – to throw down against the Funhaus crew, to pit themselves against the combined might of the city of Austin, and they are challenging the gaming community to prove their mettle against other local gamers.
Here are the activities that the Houston Outlaws have planned for RTX Austin:
ROOSTER TEETH SHOWDOWN
Attendees are encouraged to show up and face off against each other in 12-player Free For All battles to be the last gunner standing. Winners are entered into a raffle for a one-of-a-kind statuette.
OUTLAWS VS FUNHAUS
Some of the world’s best Overwatch players will battle it out in live, on-stage show matches, as the Funhaus crew go up against the Houston Outlaws. Triumph, comedy, or tragicomedy awaits – fans won’t want to miss this!
OUTLAWS VS AUSTIN
Gamers can take your shot and prove themselves by signing up to take on the Houston Outlaws. How well can gamers fare against one of the best Overwatch teams in the world? Do Austin gamers have a chance to come out on top? Only one way to find out!
The last time Third Label showed up with handfuls of limited-edition Outlaws apparel, the speed in which it all got snatched up left a whirlwind in Houston. Now they’ve taken their fan-favorite designs and merchandise to Austin. Gamers are encouraged to get their merch fast. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
The team is coming for the Austin Outlaws fans – with gifts! Fans should get it quick; it’ll go fast.
RTX Austin takes place at the Austin Convention Center, JW Marriott, Fairmont and Hilton in downtown Austin August 3-5. Single Day and Weekend tickets to RTX Austin can be purchased for $50 – $110 at rtxaustin.com.
