CYPRESS — On Thursday, September 10, 2020, at approximately 6:44 p.m., Jarrod Mikel (06/28/90) was traveling northbound in a grey 2007 Dodge Charger, in the 12400 block of Cutten Road, racing a second vehicle a black colored Dodge Charger.
Fidel Juarez, 36, was traveling northbound in a blue 2004 Ford F-150.
Mikel failed to control speed and conducted an unsafe lane change, striking Juarez’s vehicle.

Juarez’s F-150 rotated clockwise as Mikel pushed the truck off the roadway to the east.
It was pushed into a brick pillar of a business located at 12454 Cutten Road.
Juarez was found with no signs of life at the scene at approximately 7:01 p.m., by emergency personnel services
Mikel along with his 23-year-old female passenger were transported to Houston Northwest Medical with minor injuries.
At the hospital Mikel admitted to investigators he was speeding at the time of the crash.
Witness also observed Mikel racing a second vehicle, traveling over 80 mph, prior to the crash.
Harris County District attorney’s Office Chief ADA Sean Teare and Aaron Von Quintus of the District’s Attorney’s Office made the scene. ADA Von Quintus accepted charges of Racing Causing Death against Mikel.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call the HCSO Vehicular Crimes division 713-274-7400.
