Editor’s note: This is the second of two similar incidents involving toddlers and pools in our area tonight. This one happened at a residence in Katy ISD, while the other one was in Cy-Fair ISD’s attendance zone.
HARRIS COUNTY — According to police reports, a toddler has been taken to Texas Childrens’s Hospital – Katy after being under water at a pool party.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 3500 block of Paintbrush Dawn Court, north of Katy.
According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a pool party was occurring when adults lost sight of a small child (1-2 yrs of age). She was in a hot tub, adjacent to pool, and went under for unknown amount time.
The sheriff said the child was critical and transported by ambulance to Texas Children’s Hospital-Katy.
“Praying this little one pulls through also,” the sheriff said.
For pool parties, don’t assume everyone is watching, cause undoubtedly no one is. Have a designated pool watcher to keep an eye on swimmers at all times. This should be a responsible adult who will not become distracted.#HouNews
