L.I.F.E.’s Lessons Include Shop Talk, Get Fit Safety Tips and Cultural Creations


CYPRESS — Join the September L.I.F.E. discussions with a mechanic, kinesiology professor, author/artist and librarians at the weekly Lone Star College-CyFair WebEx workshops.

These free Learning, Inspiration, Friendship and Enrichment (L.I.F.E.) programs are available Wednesdays through virtual presentations and are accessible for one week.

September 2: Ask the Mechanic

How do cars work? What actually happens at the mechanic shop? Join us for a Q&A session with Darryl E. Burris, mechanic and HCCS Faculty Automotive/Diesel Instructor for answers to these questions and more!

September 9: Get Fit, Be Smart, Be safe!

Always wanted to get fit? Kinesiology Professor Ronnie Nespeca gives us some tips and tricks for staying in shape, while staying safe. He also takes us on a tour of fitness trackers and how to use them.

September 16: Lilibeth Andre, Writer & Artist

It’s Hispanic Heritage month! Local author and artist Lilibeth Andre will join us virtually to discuss her book “The Lady of the Turquoise Pendant” and the Aztec legend that inspired it! She will share her artwork and discuss her research and its influence on her original paintings created for the book.

September 23: DIY Masks

Join our #MaskMakingLibrarians Bronwyn Sutherland, Regina Vitolo and Tracy Williams for a fun and informative session on masking up to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They will discuss the latest research on masks and present their favorite mask patterns.

September 30: Chinese Recipes
Library Assistant Casey Wang teaches us to make our own delicious and authentic Chinese recipes. Join us as we make our own version of delicious Chinese dishes!
