Man dies in subdivision trench incident

CYPRESS — According to the Cy-Fair Fire Department, crew members recovered a deceased man at a subdivision construction zone in unincorporated northwest Harris County, today, Sept. 3, 2020.

Due to the nature of construction, there is not an exact address, but was near the cross street of Roaming Bison Trail, across from the Dragon Fly Park in the area.

Originally responding with the intent of rescue from a trench collapse, the situation turned into a recovery mission when the patient was assessed.

“Upon arrival, crews lowered a firefighter into the trench to assess the patient,” a CFFD spokesperson stated on social media. “An adult male with severe trauma was pronounced deceased on-scene.”

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. CFFD crews successfully removed the deceased patient at 6:28 p.m. today.
