SPRING TEXAS — Homicide investigators have charged a 17-year-old male with criminal negligent homicide for the shooting death of 15-year-old Makaila Simon.

The male, Javon Martin, 17, is currently being held at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility under a $75,000 bond.
On Sunday, January 27, 2019, at 1:40 a.m., Harris County Precinct 4 Constables contacted Harris County Sheriff’s Office dispatch regarding a 15-year-old female that was shot in the chest at a residence in the 23100 block of Kimberly Glen Lane.
Simon was confirmed deceased on the scene by Cypress Creek EMS.
Investigators determined that Martin was playing with a rifle, when he pointed the weapon and pulled the trigger. The weapon discharged striking Simon one time.
The Harris County District Attorneys Office were presented the facts of the case, and accepted the charge.
