CYPRESS — Are you interested in a career earning approximately $86,000 and projected to grow 13% by 2026 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics? Lone Star College-Westway Park Technology Center offers two programs and two new scholarships available to help fund your training in these in-demand fields.
Students enrolling in the Cybersecurity or the Mobile/Web Application Development programs can also apply one of the Office of Technology Services (OTS) endowments scholarships. Two inaugural recipients will each be awarded $1,000 scholarships for the Spring 2020 semester.
The OTS Cybersecurity and Mobile Applications Development endowment scholarships are both fully funded, which means $1,000 scholarship for each program will be awarded annually.

Cybersecurity defense teams are required to have skills in ethical hacking, intrusion detection and deterrence, programming, disaster recovery and business continuity. The Cybersecurity Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree will provide students with these skills and help them obtain an entry level position on such a team.
The Mobile/Web Application Development program prepares IT students with skills to build applications for mobile devices on multiple platforms. These applications allow for business and consumer transactions. Training in this program help students gain entry level positions in jobs in industries such as marketing, education, health care, government and entrepreneurship. Students in this program will learn a variety of programming languages and learn basic security skills related to mobile device activity.
“We offer two new AAS degree programs in IT that will prepare you with hands-on training for rewarding careers in this exciting and ever-evolving industry,” said LSC-Westway Park Technology Center Dean Kimberly Hubbard. “Both degree programs are housed at our center, where students learn both the technical and soft skills necessary to prepare for their future careers and industry certification.”
