CYPRESS — Precinct 4 deputies recently received plate carriers and bullet-resistant plates that can withstand rifle caliber rounds.
Law enforcement is a dangerous profession and is becoming more difficult as the threats officers face continue to increase. Through a government grant developed by Gov. Gregg Abbott’s office, Constable Mark Herman issued every single one of his patrol deputies’ body armor that can with stand rifle caliber rounds.
It would be worn over an officer’s uniform shirt to be utilized in situations when high caliber weapons may be involved.
“Law enforcement’s top priority is to return safely to their families when their patrol shift is over,” said Herman.
The heavier body armor will give officers peace of mind while protecting your communities and your families.
Herman stated that he is proud to equip his deputies with life-saving tools that will help keep them as safe as possible.
