Precinct 5 arrests 120 mph driver on Hwy. 290 with kids in back seat


JERSEY VILLAGE — Precinct 5 deputies arrested Arend Cardona on Sunday, January 13, after clocking him driving his Subaru at 120 miles per hour on Highway 290 at approximately 1:15 p.m.

When Cardona pulled over in the 21200 block of the Northwest Freeway (near Jersey Village), deputies found two children in his back seat, his 6-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter.

Cardona, 23, was arrested on child endangerment charges and subsequently charged with racing on a highway. The children, unharmed, were released to a relative on the scene.
