UPDATE: HCSO announced police are now looking for Dietrich Thomas, 22.
KATY — According a Harris County Sheriff’s Office homicide report, a road rage dispute let to the shooting death of a man near Mason Road and Morton Ranch Road this morning.

On Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 12:20 a.m., the victim, Eric Starr, was driving a silver Toyota Camry westbound on I-10W and exited at Mason Road. According to the report, the victim became involved in a “road rage” dispute with the suspect, who was driving a 2019 black Dodge Charger.
The victim continued northbound on Mason Road and was followed by the Charger.
The victim and the suspect exited their vehicles at Mason Road and Morton Ranch Road and the dispute became a physical confrontation.
The report states, “the suspect produced a pistol and shot the victim in the chest”
The suspect returned to the Charger and left the scene, westbound on Morton Ranch Road. Two witnesses stopped and rendered medical assistance to the victim.
The victim was transported by EMS to Hermann Hospital in Katy, where he was pronounced dead.
The HCSO describes the suspect as a black male and the suspect vehicle was identified as a 2019 black Dodge Charger.
The murder of Eric Starr is being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 713.274.9100, or call Crime Stoppers at 713.222.TIPS(8477)
