Sheriff’s deputy shot during traffic stop, Life Flighted to hospital


CYPRESS — A deputy with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office has been shot during a traffic stop near Highway 6 and West Road this afternoon. The area was active with police presence around 1:15 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 27, 2019.

Cy-Fair Fire Department medics treated the deputy as Life Flight was en route.

As of 2:10 p.m., Cy-Fair ISD schools in the area ended their lockout procedures, according to the CFISD Police Department.

The sheriff stated that the scene was contained, and a possible suspect caught, at 2:28 p.m.

  According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the deputy was taken to a hospital via Memorial Hermann’s Life Flight service.
