CYPRESS — The Cy-Lakes Spartans welcomed the Cy-Park Tigers to varsity football with a knockout at the CyFair FCU Stadium Sat., Sept. 15, 2018.
The Spartans and Tigers finished the first quarter tied at 7-all, but Cy-Lakes hit the gas pedal and never let off for the remainder of the game, scoring 47 unanswered points.

“(We had) great teamwork,” said Ronald Patton, the Spartans’ head football coach. “All three phases played well.”

In previous years, the UIL put all of the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD teams into a single 10-team district, which meant only the first week of football could be pre-district competition. Now league actions doesn’t start until week three, which was last week.

“We’ve been playing only one (pre-district) game, but now we’re fortunate enough to have two. Now, it’s the real deal,” Patton said. “I’m glad the kids came out, executed well, played their butts off and we got the W.”
