Suspected drug dealer misses officer with vehicle, pursued, tased and arrested

HARRIS COUNTY — A Precinct 4 Constable officer was nearly struck by a vehicle that was exiting a parking lot and driving erratically in the 400 block of FM 1960 West, Sunday (Aug. 19, 2018).

The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the driver refused to stop. The officer pursued the vehicle until the suspect crashed into a street sign.

The driver fled on foot and the deputy was able to deploy his Taser and detained the suspect identified as Randy Johnson.

During the investigation, a large amount of Oxycodone along with other items commonly used to sell narcotics were discovered inside of the suspect’s vehicle. Deputies also located a large amount of cash in the vehicle which is believed to be profit from the sale of illegal narcotics and seized the cash as evidence.

“Randy Johnson was arrested and booked into the Harris County jail, charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver,” said Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman. “Johnson is currently out of jail on a $30,000 bond out of the 209th District Court.”
