The Waller ISD (WISD) Board of Trustees approved the calendar for the 2021-2022 school year during its regular meeting on Feb. 8. The calendar is very similar to previous years, in accordance with historical survey data, and allows students to finish the school year before Memorial Day. The biggest change in the 2021-2022 calendar is a shift to nine-week grading periods that will allow teachers more time to work with students to meet academic milestones. There will be two progress reports between each grading period to help keep families informed. There are also additional make-up days scheduled in the event of inclement weather and/or health-related issues.
WISD Chief Academic Officer Kelly Baehren presented information about the proposed change to nine-week grading periods to the District Site-Based Decision-Making Committee (DSBDMC) during its November meeting. The committee voted in favor of the change and the WISD Board of Trustees supported the decision when informed during its regular meeting in December. Baehren then began working to build the 2021-2022 school calendar and gathered recommendations from the DSBDMC during its January meeting. In February, the committee voted unanimously for the proposed calendar. The DSBDMC is made up of more than 70 staff, parents, and community members.

Should the district need to close due to inclement weather and/or health-related issues, designated make-up days are Feb. 22, May 31-June 3, and June 6-10.
El Consejo Escolar de Waller ISD Aprueba el Calendario Escolar 2021-2022
El Consejo Escolar de Waller ISD (WISD) aprobó el calendario para el año escolar 2021-2022 durante su reunión regular el 8 de febrero. El calendario es muy similar al de años anteriores, de acuerdo con los datos de encuestas históricas, y permite a los estudiantes terminar el año escolar antes del Día Memorial. El cambio más grande en el calendario 2021-2022 es un cambio a períodos de calificaciones de nueve semanas que les permitirá a los maestros más tiempo para trabajar con los estudiantes para alcanzar metas académicas esenciales. Habrá dos informes de progreso entre cada período de calificaciones para ayudar a mantener informadas a las familias. También hay días adicionales de recuperación programados en caso de inclemencias del tiempo y/o cuestiones de salud.
